DHS PTSO Senior Scholarship Awards 

The PTSO Outstanding Senior Awards are open to all DHS seniors who meet the requirements below.  Recognizing outstanding seniors in two categories - Outstanding Senior Scholar and Outstanding Senior Wildcat - the DHS PTSO will award $1,000.00 scholarships each to FOUR graduating seniors.  The PTSO will award 2 scholarships in each category.

 

Applicants should be well-rounded individuals.  Award criteria will weigh academic achievement, school activities, community commitment, work experience, special honors/recognitions, and leadership. 

Information for Applicants 

Applications must be filled out completely and returned no later than Friday, March 15, 2024.  Late applications will not be considered. Applications should be submitted to dhs.ptso.scholarship@gmail.com.

  • IMPORTANT! Student PTSO membership (Individual or Family) during the 2023-2024 school year is required. PTSO membership can be verified at by clicking here. Please contact the committee with questions or financial concerns. 
  • Candidates must have a current GPA of 3.0 (weighted) or higher.
  • Application MUST include a current, unofficial copy of student's high school transcript, available through Infinite Campus.
  • Application MUST include one letter of recommendation from a teacher, club sponsor, coach, instructor, or employer on the form provided.

IF THE CONDITIONS LISTED ABOVE ARE NOT MET, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE INVALID, AND YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION.

  • Valid applications will be impartially scored using a point system by the PTSO Scholarship Committee to determine finalists.
  • Finalists will interview with an independent, impartial community panel selected by the PTSO Scholarship Committee.  The independent community panel will choose the scholarship recipients. Failure to keep the interview appointment will remove the finalist from the process.
  • The decision of the independent interview panel and the PTSO Scholarship Committee is final.
  • There will be two award categories with two winners in each category.  Every applicant will use the same application. 
    • Outstanding Senior Scholar Award – 4.0 GPA and above (weighted)
    • Outstanding Senior Wildcat Award – 3.0 to 3.99 GPA (weighted)

The recipients of the DHS PTSO Outstanding Senior Awards will be notified by the end of April, 2024.  The recipients will be recognized and presented with awards during Honors Night at Dunwoody High School, currently scheduled for April 24, 2024.

Steps to Apply

  1. Download Application.  You will fill out the application in Word and submit via email to dhs.ptso.scholarship@gmail.com.  Please save your document as YOURNAME_APPLICATION before you submit.

2. Request A Letter of Recommendation.  Do this immediately.  Recommendations will be submitted as a Google Form.  ALL RECOMMENDATIONS ARE DUE MARCH 15, 2024.  Please send the link below to the person who will provide a recommendation.  The form will be submitted directly to the Scholarship Committee.

3. Obtain your Transcript from Infinite Campus.  Log into Infinite Campus, Select Documents, Select Unofficial Transcript from Dunwoody High School.  This will download a PDF.  Please attached the PDF when you email your application.

4. Request Your Student Discipline Report from DHS.  Student Discipline information is confidential and will only be released to you/your parents directly.  You can request a discipline report from Audra Curry – Audra_j_curry@dekalbschoolsga.org or Coach Hill –George_O_Hill@dekalbschoolsga.org.  They will send you the report that must be forwarded with the application to the committee. 

 

5. Verify that you are a 2023-2024 PTSO Member.  Check your PTSO Membership status and/or join by clicking here.  After logging in, go to My Account, then Previous Orders.  If you have a previous order, click on the order number and it will list if you paid for DHS PTSO Family Membership or PTSO Individual Student Dues (with your name as the student). 

 

6. Send your completed Application to dhs.ptso.scholarship@gmail.com by Friday, March 15, 2024Please save your document as YOURNAME_APPLICATION before you submit.  The committee will email you to let you know that it has been received.

  2. Your Transcript from Infinite Campus 
  3. Your Discipline Report from Coach Hill
